Terms of Use

Last updated: 16 September 2026

1. What this covers

These terms apply to the tools and pages on GIFKit. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

2. What the site does

GIFKit provides browser-based utilities for creating and editing GIF files. All processing happens on your device. We do not receive your files and we cannot recover them for you.

3. No account, no guarantee of availability

The tools are offered free of charge, without registration. We may change, add, or remove features at any time. We do not promise that any particular tool will remain available.

4. Your content

You keep all rights to anything you create with these tools. We claim no ownership over your output. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to use whatever text, images, or other material you process — including any fonts or logos you incorporate.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use this site to create material that is unlawful, that infringes someone else's rights, or that is intended to deceive. That includes, but is not limited to:

You are solely responsible for what you make and how you use it.

6. Intellectual property of the site

The site's design, text, and original code are owned by GIFKit unless otherwise stated. You may not republish substantial parts of the site as your own.

This site also includes third-party open-source components, which remain under their own licences. The GIF encoder in particular is MIT licensed and is not owned by GIFKit. See THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt for the full text and attribution.

7. Third-party names

Platform names such as Discord, Slack, X, Gmail, Outlook, Reddit, and WeChat are trademarks of their respective owners. They are referenced here only to describe file size limits. GIFKit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.

8. Limits and accuracy

Platform file size limits and format support change without notice. We include the date each list was last checked, but you should confirm current limits with the platform itself before relying on them. The tools are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, GIFKit is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the site — including lost files, lost time, or missed deadlines. Because processing happens locally, keeping your own backups is your responsibility.

10. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. The date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
